This article provides some options for addressing the "Attempting to send Cancel request to Job failed. Job Package target was not found" error message encountered when attempting to stop an item in the SureSync Desktop.
The "Attempt to sent Cancel request to Job failed. Job Package target was not found." error message can be presented when attempting to stop an item in the SureSync Desktop. This error means that the process ID the desktop thinks is associated with the process can no longer be found. This can indicate that a process has hung or crashed.
To resolve this, please do the following:
- Look in the application event viewer. Are there errors there?
- Stop all running Jobs, Schedules, and Real-Time Monitors.
- Close all user interface programs like the SureSync Desktop and any status panels.
- Stop the Software Pursuits SureSync 9 Communications Agent and Software Pursuits SureSync 9 Scheduler services in the Services MMC.
- Bring up Task Manager, go to the Processes tab, and sort by Name.
- Look for SyncFiles.exe. If any of these processes exist, end process on them.
- Start the Software Pursuits SureSync 9 Communications Agent and Software Pursuits SureSync 9 Scheduler services in the Services MMC.
- Launch the SureSync Desktop and restart your Schedules and Real-Time Monitors.
To prevent the issue from occurring in the future, make sure that you're running the latest version of SureSync so you have all available fixes and enhancements.
