The security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object. Unable to write security objects. Security not copied.

When running a Job configured to copy ownership, you receive the following warning:

This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object. Unable to write security objects. Security not copied. This action will not be retried.

Cause

This message is a Windows message returned by the file system. This message indicates the account SureSync is running under does not have the advanced user right "Take ownership of files and other objects" on the destination path.

This right can be granted in a domain security policy or a local security policy. The local security policy on a machine can be accessed by launching the Local Security Policy MMC under Administrative Tools. From there, expand "Local Policies" and click on "User Rights Assignment."

The volume in question must also be an NTFS volume to be able to copy NTFS ownership to it.
