System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Invalid Argument

Note: This article does not apply to SureSync 9, since Access databases are no longer an option to be used.

Check the size of your Access Database which has most likely reached the maximum size limit of 2GB. Compact your database to resolve this error.

SureSync 7 and Newer

  1. Stop any running Jobs, Schedules and Real-Time Monitors.
  2. Stop the Scheduler service.
  3. A compact can be performed by launching the SureSync Desktop, click on Home, Database and select "Compact Your Jet Database."
  4. Start the Scheduler service.
  5. Restart your Jobs, Schedules and Real-Time Monitors.

SureSync 6 and older

  1. Stop any running Jobs, Schedules and Real-Time Monitors.
  2. Stop the Scheduler service.
  3. A compact can be performed by going to File | Database |Compact Jet Database.
  4. Start the Scheduler service
  5. Restart your Jobs, Schedules and Real-Time Monitors.

If you discover that your Access database hits 2GB regularly, odds are you are running many multi-directional rules such as Multi-Mirror on large directories. Multi-directional synchronization jobs store file and folder history in the database. Also, storing large amounts of job log information can result in database bloat. If you keep hitting the 2GB size limit on the Access database, it is recommended to move to a SQL Express or SQL database.
