Restarting the Hub service since it appears to be hung

This article details the steps to take when encountering the "restarting the Hub service since it appears to be hung" warning alert when using SureSync MFT.

The MFT Hub service monitors the progress of actions in the queue. If it detects a situation where the Hub does not appear to be making progress, the following warning will be generated:

Restarting the Hub service since it appears to be hung. Traces have been generated that should be forwarded to Software Pursuits Support.

When this occurs, the Hub will generate traces to attempt to capture the issue and restart the Software Pursuits SureSync MFT Communications Agent service.

To locate the traces:

  1. launch the MFT Desktop.
  2. Expand Computers and Storage.
  3. Expand Hubs.
  4. Click on the Hub machine and then the Logging tab.
  5. If there is a path defined for "Trace Output Folder," the traces will be there. Otherwise, they will be in the default location of C:\Users\Public\Software Pursuits\SureSync MFT2\Traces.
  6. Zip up the traces and submit a support ticket to request an upload location to submit the traces.
