When a Real-Time Monitor is started and remains stuck on the "Waiting to start" stage, there are a couple of possibilities that should be investigated.
This issue most frequently occurs in established environments after applying a SureSync update. The process of updating to a new version removed the Scheduler service. When you launch the SureSync Desktop for the first time after the update, it will prompt you to reinstall the Scheduler. If this was not done for some reason, you would encounter this problem.
For v7 and newer
- Ensure that you have a Scheduler installed and that it is running. This is done by clicking on the Home button in the SureSync Desktop and clicking on Scheduler Services. In the dialog that is displayed, you should have a machine listed and it should show a status of "(Running)." If no Scheduler is listed, you should install one by clicking on the "Install" button and providing a username and password. If a Scheduler is installed but is not running, click on the machine's name and click the "Start" button.
- If your environment is using a SQL database for the SureSync database, the user account that the Scheduler service is running under must have at least the db_owner role on the SureSync database. If using an Access database, the account must have at least modify permissions on the Access database file.
- If a Scheduler is installed, you should validate that the service is initializing correctly. To do so, select the Scheduler on the same panel and click the "Stop" button followed by the "Start" button to restart the service. Once this is done check the Application Event Viewer for errors. If the Scheduler service started cleanly, try to restart your monitor. If it did not, please contact technical support for further assistance. You can also cycle the service using the services MMC in Windows and restarting the Software Pursuits SureSync Scheduler service.
