MFT Diagnostics

The MFTDiagnostics program is available if you are directed by Software Pursuits support staff to try to identify any potential issue with your database.

A shortcut is not provided for the program because you should not normally need this program. It is installed in the SureSync MFT install folder.

When you launch the MFTDiagnostics program, a form will display with actions for you to select. Over time, additional actions may be added that are not mentioned in this article. Select the desired option and optionally provide values for options.

The output is normally a txt file. You will specify a folder for that file. The file name will be constructed automatically and will contain the date and time when you ran the program.

The "Review Database" action will search your configuration and file history looking for relationships that could be a problem. Not everything reported is a serious problem. The report will mention if you should contact Software Pursuits Support for help.

"Find Rollbacks" is looking through history for a cases where files were restored to earlier modification dates. Sometimes this happens formally and the items reported may not be a real issue. The output is in tab separated text so it can be easily opened in Excel for better viewing.
