Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime 14.0 Update 3 (x64) could not be installed

This article explains how to address receiving this error message when running the SureSync or SureSync MFT installer.

When running the installer on a machine that does not have the required Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime 14.0 Update 3 installed, it is possible to receive the following error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime 14.0 Update 3 (x64) could not be installed. -1

Please use Windows update to manually install this update on your system.

SureSync MFT Setup cannot continue.

Resolution

Occasionally, a system may fail to install the required component from the prerequisite included in the installer. When this occurs, download the installer from Microsoft at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53587. Run the C++ installer and then run the SureSync installer again and it should complete successfully.
